October's headline shooter gets most of the attention, but the back half of the month is stacked with games that have nothing to do with a battle royale lobby: a long-awaited action game, a turn-based RPG, a motion-controlled Switch 2 party game and a delayed expansion for one of the year's big open worlds. Here is what is landing between October 14 and October 29, and how each one plays with a controller in your hands.
Dates and platforms below come from the sources linked at the end of the post. Publishers do move dates, so confirm on the official store page before you pre-load.

Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 - October 14
Boltgun 2 is a retro-style first-person shooter with boomer-shooter influences, arriving October 14 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Switch 2 version comes later in 2026 with no date yet. Games in this style live on fast strafing, quick weapon swaps and clean stick control, so a responsive, drift-free thumbstick is the upgrade that matters most here.
Final Fantasy Resonance - October 22
Final Fantasy Resonance is an HD-2D, turn-based RPG launching October 22, with a demo reported on the PlayStation Store. Platform lists vary between outlets, so check your own console's store page. Turn-based play is gentle on a controller, which makes it a good excuse to pick a design you love. A cosmetic build like the PS5 Customizer lets you choose the look while keeping the full DualSense feature set.
Nintendo Switch Sports Resort - October 22
Announced in June as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, Switch Sports Resort arrives October 22 with 12 sports across core, leisure and warm-up categories, including boxing, tennis, archery, bowling, golf, skateboarding and jump rope. Joy-Con 2 controllers act as rackets, bows and handlebars depending on the sport, and you can play solo or with friends and family.
If you want the Joy-Con to match your setup, ModdedZone offers custom Nintendo Joy-Con designs such as the Dream Land Edition. Nintendo customization is cosmetic only, with no performance mods. Check Joy-Con generation compatibility on the product page before ordering for a Switch 2 game.
Phantom Blade Zero - October 29
Phantom Blade Zero from S-Game Studio is dated for October 29 on PS5 and PC. A trailer showed 11 minutes of gameplay, and the protagonist is played by action film actor Donnie Yen. The footage shows intense combat with action platforming, which means tight parry and dodge timing. That is where precise sticks and low-latency inputs earn their keep. A DualSense Edge custom controller is a natural fit for a game like this.
Crimson Desert: Charting the Unknown - October 29
The first Crimson Desert expansion slipped from October 15 to October 29 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It adds new islands reachable by ship, underwater exploration with sunken ruins, new storylines for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane, new land and sea enemies, rentable facilities and an upgraded Housing mode. The developer said the delay is for polish, and the content is unchanged. On Xbox, the Xbox Series X|S Customizer is built on genuine Microsoft hardware.
What This Means for Your Setup
This stretch of the calendar is mostly single-player and party play, so comfort and feel matter more than rapid-fire tricks. Long RPG and action sessions reward a controller you enjoy holding, with sticks that stay accurate. Our standard PS5 Customizer ships with Hall Effect thumbsticks, and the Xbox Series X|S Customizer uses stock Microsoft sticks. Whatever you play, remember that performance mods like rapid fire or anti-recoil can conflict with some games' competitive or ranked rules, so check current terms first.
Ready to Gear Up?
Pick your platform and make it yours: the PS5 Customizer, the Xbox Series X|S Customizer, or a DualSense Edge custom build. Every ModdedZone controller starts from authentic first-party hardware and comes with a 90-day warranty.
